Sewtec has achieved a triple shortlisting at the prestigious Insider Made In Yorkshire awards, and a nomination at the Business Masters.

Business Masters 2020 Yorkshire shortlisted award

At the Made In Yorkshire awards, we are finalists in the categories for manufacturer of the year (over £25m) and the export award, whilst our third-year apprentice, Tomas Preidys, has been shortlisted as apprentice of the year.

Last year, Sewtec won the digital engineering and technology award at Made In Yorkshire 2019, in recognition of our use and development of software, technology and technical processes to solve problems and add value for customers.

This year’s event takes place on March 5, when 200 business influencers will gather at the Hilton Hotel in Leeds.

We’ve also been named as a finalist in the medium business category at the Business Masters run by The Business Desk. Focused on Yorkshire businesses employing between 51 and 250 people, the award recognises those which have achieved a step-change in their performance, disrupted and entered new markets, invested in the business and shown strong employee engagement.

Hundreds of people from across the business community will come together for the glittering event on March 26 at Queens Hotel, Leeds.

The Business Desk Yorkshire editor, Ben Ormsby, said: “The achievements of all those shortlisted should not be underplayed as it takes a lot of time, hard work and entrepreneurial spirit – especially when we look at the economic backdrop of the last 12 months – to achieve what these businesses have.”

Over the past 12 months, Sewtec has won eight major awards including at the European Business Awards and Yorkshire Post Excellence in Business Awards, as well as been shortlisted for nine others

Sewtec managing director, Mark Cook, commented: “It’s fantastic to start 2020 with this recognition. We have had an outstanding year with record turnover, growing exports and exciting new client and project wins. These shortlistings are a great celebration of our team’s hard work.

“We’re all proud that Tomas has been shortlisted as apprentice of the year. He has made an incredible impact and become an integral part of Sewtec. Fingers crossed for him and the wider team when the winners are revealed in March.”
