Project Accountant

To support our ongoing growth, Sewtec is looking for a new project accountant to work within our finance operations.

Reporting into our finance director, you’ll be responsible for monitoring the financial performance of projects to ensure all the bespoke automation systems we design, build and assemble are completed cost efficiently and in budget.

You’ll create project accounts in our accounting system to maintain financial records, including contracts and invoicing. Reviewing account totals related to project assets, expenses, committed costs, WIP and invoicing to ensure accuracy will also be on your to-do list, as will investigating any project finance variances.

As project accountant, you’ll support our project managers with the generation of forecast cost at completion, raising project invoices and ensuring associated payments are collected in a timely manner for the bespoke automation solutions they are working on. You’ll conduct thorough analysis on costs incurred on previous jobs to inform the preparation of cost and price builds and relay this information into our sales team to help generate outlined cost proposals for new work.

To ensure we are working as cost efficiently as possible, creating robust profitability reports will be high on your agenda. Our project accountant will develop a standardised Sewtec financial system to streamline and improve our reporting operations.

We’re looking for someone who has a strong experience of working within a cross functional business environment and holds a good understanding of project management methodologies. You’ll be a project accountant whose employment history has given them experience in working within multi-disciplined teams in a complex project environment, and on multiple concurrent projects across multiple sectors.

You must be, or be working towards becoming, a CIMA, ACCA or ACA qualified accountant, and having strong technical skills in accounting is required for this position. Having the ability to provide quality information within deadlines, showing impeccable attention to detail and possessing advanced Microsoft Excel skills are also highly desirable.
