Junior test and development engineer

As part of our ongoing growth, Sewtec is seeking a junior test and development engineer in Yorkshire to join our bespoke automation solutions company.

Reporting to our MIS manager, you’ll be responsible for testing, developing, supporting and maintaining Sewtec’s in-house management information system (WorkTracking). The position will also provide you with exposure to all aspects of the business.

As part of your day-to-day role, you’ll identify opportunities for improvement during the development of WorkTracking, as well as be tasked with the testing and rollout of new builds. Our junior test and development engineer will work closely with stakeholders to understand development requirements from user needs and provide support to all WorkTracking users by diagnosing and resolving issues in a timely manner. You’ll also provide onboarding and refresher training to all users.

We’re looking for a candidate who has demonstrable working knowledge of SQL Server and VBA, whilst having a working knowledge of C# and .NET Core is desirable, but not essential.

You’ll be a junior test and developer engineer who has strong experience in working with Microsoft software packages (Access, Word and Excel in particular). Having an interest in technology and being up to date with new and emerging techniques and tools would also stand you in good stead for this position.

As a junior test and developer engineer, you’ll be an analytic thinker who is able to contribute towards solving problems both on your own and as part of a team. You’ll have exceptional attention to detail, be able to work to tight deadlines and possess the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.

At Sewtec, all our people are motivated individuals who have a strong sense of pride in their work and are team players – characteristics which we’d want you to live and breathe if you were successful in your application.

To be eligible for this junior test and developer engineer position, you must be educated to a university-level in computer science, programming or a similar degree.
