Head of build
As part of our ongoing growth strategy, Sewtec is seeking a head of build to join our innovative, award-winning team.
To emphasise the experience required, Sewtec’s systems are predominantly low-volume, unique and designed to customer requirements rather than standard high-volume catalogue products.
Reporting to our production director, our head of build will assume full responsibility for the management of the system build activities, involving the assembly of mechanical and electrical parts and subassemblies into a bespoke automation system.
You’ll also be tasked with managing the staff and priorities within the assembly department onsite and offsite, and ensuring all resource planning is in line with the build strategy, staff capability and customer expectations.
As head of build, working alongside our project management team will be high on your agenda to ensure effective monitoring of the build, and maintaining the schedule to a budget. Managing the quality of each build to ensure each system produced meets our high standards will also sit under your remit.
We’re looking for someone who can make sure there’s an efficient utilisation of build space and tooling requirements, and ensure compliance in environment, health, safety and welfare to protect our people and visitors.
To be considered for this role, you must have previous experience of managing the build of multiple bespoke electro-mechanical and pneumatic systems in a project environment. Our head of build will have extensive experience of working with engineering and project management departments and also managing teams.
You need excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to communicate at all levels and across a number of teams – including customers, suppliers and your fellow Sewtec colleagues. The ability to work well under pressure whilst operating within an agile environment is also a must.
Like all our team, you’ll have the desire to deliver a high level of customer service and quality, and you’ll also possess strong IT, analytical and report writing skills.
