Sewtec is seeking a buyer in Yorkshire to join our world-leading bespoke automation solutions company.
In this role, you’ll provide proactive support by working closely with the senior buyer to identify and select the right process, supplier or component based on quality and cost. You’ll also speak with key leads within our wider team to ensure all projects are completed to the highest specification, quality and margin.
As a buyer, building a supplier database to support the business will be high on your agenda, as well as finding areas for improvement within our supply chains and processes.
Keeping tabs on everything stock related will be a big part of your day-to-day work. Reporting into our senior buyer, you’ll be tasked with replenishing stock levels avoiding significant write offs and working with our stock-related supply chain to efficiently managed and develop our stock profile. Working with our manufacturing operations to monitor raw material stock and utilising volume to leverage price reductions will also be under your remit.
At Sewtec, we pride ourselves on our high standards of quality – something we expect you to adhere to when it comes to any parts or components we use.
For this buyer position, you must have a sound understanding of, and be confident to negotiate, T&Cs and price analysis, and be able to interrogate the supplier’s price to determine value for money. Having good legal awareness surrounding contractual management and ensuring all purchasing is performed ethically and in line with prevailing UK and Customer legislation is also an integral part of this role.
In terms of key skills, we’re seeking a buyer who can maintain supply contracts to improve quality and reliability of supply and source new suppliers as necessary. You’ll need to be capable of managing supplier portfolios and procurement of products and components for our projects. You’ll also be able to read engineering drawings or BOM and identify critical aspects of a specification.
We’re ideally looking for a buyer who’s had experience of working in a precision engineering environment, and has an employment history in buying, sales and estimating. You’ll also be CIPS qualified or be willing to work towards getting this qualification.
