FILLED: Assistant / Junior buyer
Sewtec is seeking an assistant or junior buyer in Yorkshire to join our bespoke automation solutions company.
Reporting to the purchasing manager, we’re looking for a confident and enthusiastic individual who is looking to pursue a career within the purchasing arena.
Working in an environment with continual fluctuating demand, you will be trained to become part of a professional purchasing team which is required to service the requirements of extremely busy internal customers.
Day-to-day, you’ll be tasked with identifying and sourcing components based on quality and price, and identify areas of improvement within the supply chain. You’ll also obtain quotes from existing approved suppliers, as well as negotiate prices with them.
As our assistant or junior buyer, placing material and subcontract orders from written and verbal requisition requests with approved suppliers will also be high on your agenda. You’ll have accountability for any order placed, expediting orders and chasing outstanding deliveries, as well as resolving invoice and delivery queries with suppliers.
We’re looking for a highly motivated individual who is a proactive and has an enquiring mind to join our team. Our junior buyer will possess good communication skills, both written and verbal, with a confident telephone manner. Having good organisation skills with the ability to prioritise between various competing tasks is also important.
In an ever-evolving workplace like Sewtec’s, you’ll never be fazed by a problem and always have an ability to find a solution, be that as part of a team or working on your own initiative. Having Microsoft Office experience is essential, and you’ll require good numeracy and literacy skills. Being willing to work towards a professional qualification (CIPS) is also desirable.
