Workshop Fitting Manager

Reporting into our project director, Sewtec is looking to hire a workshop fitting manager to join our world-leading bespoke automation solutions company.

You’ll be tasked with overseeing the day-to-day management of the assembly, testing, shipping and installation of special purpose machinery – all of which has been innovated, designed and built out of our precision engineering operations in Yorkshire. Teaming up with project leads, you’ll manage our electrical and mechanical fitters, quality inspectors and labourers. Ensuring we have the appropriate resource in the right places to undertake our work will also be high on your agenda.

As workshop fitting manager, you’ll maintain a high level of due diligence to guarantee that quality and customer specifications are constantly achieved to meet deadlines and client deliverables. You’ll also manage the build quality during the assembly process through to the onsite installation, as well as review our methods to help improve and streamline processes when required.

With previous experience in a supervisory role within a similar organisation, you’ll be an assembly manager with a competent knowledge of the technical aspects of machine build, including mechanical, electrical and pneumatic engineering. Your past employment will also have given you experience of working in an ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 environment

You’ll ensure an outstanding level of health and safety is always maintained through the promotion of a safe working environment and regular auditing, putting corrective action in place where required. Conducting risk assessments and maintaining effective and safe operation of all our equipment will also be part of your day-to-day tasks.

Creating bespoke automation solutions, no two days at Sewtec are the same so you’ll have a real can-do attitude and be enthusiastic about getting stuck into any challenge. Being proactive and willing to take on additional responsibilities are highly desired too.

Managing a multi-skilled team, you’ll lead by example to motivate our people, as well as develop and educate them on best practices to aid their progression. Our assembly manager will be a strong communicator too, with the confidence to lead on both internal catch-ups and client-facing meetings.
