Sewtec Completes Plans to Extend its 72,000 sq ft Design and Manufacturing Facility

28 June 2024

As part of our ongoing growth and transformation strategy, Sewtec have started building work on a 16,000 sq ft extension to the current headquarters, situated at Silkwood Park near junction 40 of the M1.

Sewtec’s existing facility in Wakefield, which currently designs and manufactures end to end bespoke solutions for the manufacturing sector, will increase in size by 16,000 sq ft.

Mark Atkins, Director of Business Support commented: “Having secured the appropriate planning permissions, I am happy to confirm that our new factory extension has officially started. We need more space and since we moved into the building four years ago the business has continued to grow.  We have planned the works carefully to cause minimum disruption to our normal operations, and our hope is that construction will be complete this year.”

Mark Atkins added: “As the extension nears completion, our plan is to invest in new plant & machinery, to introduce new processes, to add in extra capacity for our assembly and test area. All of this will require further recruitment – especially by increasing our test and assembly capacity, so there will be new employment opportunities for skilled staff in the near future.”

The proposed extension reflects the strategic growth of the company backed up by a strong order book and pipeline of opportunities in our core markets of medical & pharma, e-commerce, food and beverage, personal care, pet food, and track & trace applications.
